The German-French Cultural Association Ulm e. V. "à propos..." was founded in November 2004 and provides us with the opportunity of exchange between German and French cultures. It contributes to creating a more profound dialogue between both cultures.

Der Arbeitskreis Ausländische Kinder (work group International Children)

The work group International Children (Arbeitskreis Ausländische Kinder) is non-profit, non-denominational,and politically neutral. The purpose of the association is to promote the personal and social development of children and adolescents with migration background and to support them to integrate in our society.

We offer:

  • Homework
  • language and learning help in small groups
  • wide range of games, sports, and exercise
  • project kitchen magic ("Küchenzauber")
  • arts and crafts
  • drumming - basic rhythmic training,etc. i.a. in cooperation with parents, schools, the Agency for Intercultural Openness (Fachstelle Interkulturelle Öffnung)

Cubanisch-Deutscher Kulturverein e.V. (Cuban-German Cultural Association e.V.)

Founded many years ago, the Cuban-German Cultural Association e.V. is a informal network of Cubans living in and around Ulm/Neu-Ulm. The association was founded in 2010 with the objective of promoting an active cultural exchange between Germany and Cuba. The first major project is the "Cuba House - Multicultural Center".

Deutsch-Finnische Gesellschaft (German Finnish Society)

The German Finnish Society plays a central role in maintaining in-depth relationships between Germany and Finland. The GFS organizes Germany-wide concerts, readings, lectures, and exhibitions with Finnish artists or artist groups as well as exchange programs for school-age children and adolescents.

Annual events in Ulm like May 1st Celebration, Finnish Christmas dinner, and alternating cultural events, round table on the last Thursday of every month at Barfüßer Neu-Ulm from 6:30 pm; Finnish style coffee meeting on every second Wednesday in the month at Café Kornhauskeller.

Welcome are people from Finland, Germany and other people of all ages who are interested in Finland.

Deutsch-Polnische Kulturinitiative Ulm/Neu-Ulm (German-Polish Cultural Initiative)

The purpose of the German-Polish Cultural Initiative is to promote cultural exchange between the two neighboring countries and to be the initial contact partner for questions concerning the countries, people, and mutual relations. Die Kinder-Akademie (The Children´s Academy)

The purpose of the Children´s Academy is to promote bilingualism of children, international understanding, German and Russian languages, culture, education and training, widespread creative development, and parent competence.

PEKiP groups in German and Russian (for babies from age 0), mother-child groups with educational support, language support, language instruction, art classes, martial arts, rhythmic sport exercises, choreography and dance, children´s theater (for children ages 4 and up).

Welcome are children and adolescents between 0 and 25 years of age and their parents.

Frauen helfen Frauen e. V. Frauenberatungsstelle (Women´s advice center)

The association "Frauen helfen Frauen" is the funding body of the Frauenberatungsstelle (women´s advice center) and Frauenhaus Ulm (women´s refuge). Here, women can obtain anonymous protection, help and advice in case of domestic and sexual violence and intimidation. Key objectives are to help women establish a violence-free existence and come to terms with the violence they have experienced.

Frauenhaus (women´s refuge): anonymous accomodation and protection against domestic violence, information on legal, financial and organizational matters, educational guidance, educational programs for children and accompaniment on visits to authorities, police, doctors, solicitors, etc.

Frauenberatungsstelle (women´s advice center): anonymous telephone advice on financial, legal and migration-related matters; mediation, information and accompaniment on visits to other support services, complaints to the police and court procedures; group activities and self-help groups.

Women affected by violence/harassment in relationships/in the workplace, sexual abuse in childhood, forced marriage and violence in the name of honour, stalking

Freunde des Orients e.V. (Friends of the Orient)

The goal of the association is to communicate a genuine, authentic image of the countries of the Near East, develop the German-Arab cultural dialogue, and cultivate this cultural exchange. We want to make a contribution in dismantling prejudice, cliches, and misunderstanding about the Orient, whereby we do not take a political or religious standpoint, but rather attempt to show the vast cultural diversity that the Near East has to offer.
