International Committee

The International Committee is an advisory board of the Ulm Municipal Council and is responsible for issues concerning coexistence of people from different cultural heritages in Ulm.

The committee convenes 3 to 4 times a year in the City Hall of Ulm under the direction of the City Mayor and also meets on other dates. The term of office is five years. The International Committee supports and advises the Municipal Council and City Council in their work by making suggestions, recommendations, and providing opinions. At the moment twelve councilors and eleven proficient citizens with international roots work as volunteers on the International Committee. Since 2015 six of the proficient members and their deputies are selected and appointed through an application process. The other members are appointed on the basis of recommendations from factions of the Municipal Council. The members are no longer elected.

The International Committee deals with a wide range of topics, such as education, the economy, intercultural opening of the institutions, recent immigration, and numerous other current topics.

  • Immigration and refugees: Amer Alabdallah, Hrvoje Radman (deputy)
  • Coexistence : Omer Sehic, Florentina Tole  (deputy)
  • International culture: Nathalie Rieutort, Rongyan Zhou (deputy)

Goals of the International Committee:

  • Creation of equal oppportunities
  • Providing equal participation of international citizens in every aspect of life

The international committee supports the equitable coexistance of people with national and international roots. The committee is not influenced by affiliations to any ethnicity, religion, culture or corporation.
The committee encourages the political participation  and contributes to social peace in our city.
