European Office Ulm

The European Office Ulm is a coordination center for European affairs. Set up in 2001, the European Office has participated in numerous European projects within the scope of the European funding program INTERREG IVc.

The project partners in these European projects mainly be- long to the city network Eurotowns. The members are cities with a population of 50,000 to 250,000 inhabitants. The objective of Eurotowns is to exchange information and "best practice examples" within and beyond the network and to collectively develop and implement European projects. Ulm has been a member since early 2008.

With the "Europe Direct Information Center", the European Office, supported by the European Commission, provides special theme events geared to different target groups since 2009. Europe Direct also provides a large selection of free publications on EU topics.

An overview of the activities and projects:

  • ENTER.HUB: Development of innovative tools for the sustainable advancement of urban development and urban policy 
  • MMOVE - Mobility Management over Europe: Changing mobility patterns: Exchange of strategies among project partners in the field of sustainable mobility policy. 
  • CLIQ - Creating Local Innovation through a Quadruple Helix: Comparison of the situation in all participating cities 
  • Contacts to the sister city New Ulm, Minnesota, USA, i. a. with an annual job swap through the "Hans Joohs Exchange Program" for one person to and from New Ulm/Neu-Ulm 
  • "Memorandum of Understanding" with the development company "Jeju Free International City Development Center" (JDC) from the South Korean island Jeju. The City of Ulm is advisor for the establishment of an international Science Park in the fields of biotechnology and environmental technology.
